A Brief History of Hunter Farm

By Stacey Hunter Kazinskas

1956
My grandfather, Hugh Hunter, bought the farm for $9,000 and moved in with my grandmother, Gladys, and their two kids, Victoria (Tory, my mom) and Michael. Three more kids eventually came along John, William (Toni) and Frankie.
1964-1984
The Hunter Farm Ice Cream Stand was run out of the lower barn, hence the large “parking lot” on the side of the property. My grandfather was a teacher, and therefore ran the business in the summer, and handmade the ice cream. Many local folks still have fond memories of the incredible product, plus petting various animals outback.

My grandmother passed away at 98 years old, 16 years after my grandfather, and I bought the farm from my mom and four uncles.

NOW
Currently, we are continuing to rejuvenate the farm – a constant pursuit! There is always something to paint, something to clean, something to be thrown away (or saved!). Visit now… and visit again next year… watch it change and grow!
